To kick-off the "Promised City" in Warsaw, DISK/CTM put together an evening program that mirrors the multi-faceted mingling of Berlin's art and music culture.
The venue Nowy Swiat Wspaniały (NWS) (English: Brave New World) is located in a former restaurant of the Polish intelligentsia and belongs to the publishing house and magazine Krytyka Polityczna. At this magnificent place of convergence DJ Mobiletti Giradischi will open the night, followed by solo performances of Noot and Planningtorock, who will be presenting her new record. The night continues till teh early morning hours with DJ-sets one of the Grand Dames of Berlin's club life, DJ Mo, and by one of the most active DJs of Warsaw's rising electronic music scene, DJ Bshosa. Both accompanied by visuals by Berlin video artist U-Matic. On the second floor Raum für Projektion will present the audiovisual piece "Unauthorized Commercials" by graw böckler with a soundtrack by Popnoname.
"The Promised City" is a cultural initiative between Berlin and Warsaw with program elements also in Mumbai and Bucharest: Artists, curators and academics from Germany, Poland, India, and Romania develop various new creative productions. All of which are interdisciplinary and evolve around subjects of dreams, illusions, and promises of modern metropolises. Within this context, the project The Knot – Linking the Existing with the Imaginary – organized by DISK/CTM, Raumlabor.Berlin, e-cart.ro and the independent curator Jakub Szreder – will begin end of April in Berlin. The project will be continued with events in Warsaw and Bucharest later in the year.

DJ Mobiletti Giradischi (NL/DE)
Mobiletti Giradischi, selector of the weirdest and the cheapest, the most twisted and awkward, and of the most forgotten records, was born in Italy, raised in Breda, the Netherlands and finally relocated to Berlin. He is CTM's unchallenged expert on incredibly strange Moog music dating from the sixties till today. In honour of the recently deceased Godfather of Synth, Mister Robert Moog, Giradschi will delve deep down into his record bag to feed up a viscous flow of rare tunes.
Noot (Daniel Baudin) was raised in the prairies of Canada before moving to Montreal in 2003. Following four years of art school, Noot moved to the Czech Republic before settling in Berlin in 2007. Noot has played solo internationally, provided soundtracks for runway shows in Paris and New York, dance pieces in Antwerp, and films in Montreal. He has performed with Japanese artist Hanayo.

After two years of writing, recording and producing, Planningtorock worked with friends Felix Martin and Al Doyle (Hot Chip) on a little more production and mixing and travelled to New York to record with Pat Mahoney (LCD Soundsystem) on drums. The new album, Planet 9 is due to be released early 2010 on James Murphy’s DFA label. As a visual artist Janine Rostron has presented works in various gallery spaces including MAMA (Rotterdam), Galleria Riccardo Crespi (Milan), Tate Modern (London), Extra City (Antwerp) and Centro Cultural Montehermoso (Vitorio-Gasteiz).
