CTM (club transmediale), Berlin’s unique festival for electronic and experimental musical culture, invites you to its
10th Anniversary Edition in January 2009.
Expect a magnificent program of concerts and performance in honour of this grand occasion, in which the festival’s long-standing friends and comrades-in-arms, the best of the season’s newcomers and yet to be discovered talents will all do their utmost to highlight the festival’s status as a forge of international talent and a creative network hub.
New this year will be a daytime program of events in
Kunstraum Kreuzberg/ Bethanien, which under the theme
STRUCTURES – Backing-up Independent Audio-visual Cultures will address both theoretical and practical aspects of today’s independent and experimental music production at the intersections of pop and sound & media arts. Artists, experts, journalists and theorists will present their work and lectures as a means to pool knowledge and sketch out the sector’s future prospects. Visitors can hone their personal skills in workshops designed to encourage and support DIY experimentation. Selected projects and initiatives will demonstrate what they do in a hybrid formats fusing exhibitions and work-in-progress sessions that engage visitors’ participation. Actions and installations will illustrate further examples of creative output wiring music, art and digital culture.

RadioclitLondon based soundsystem and producers Radioclit will headline CTM.09's Opening Club Night on January 23rd. Best known for their tropical themed monthly bashment in London "Secousse", Radioclit also keep producing for artists such as M.I.A., Bonde do Role, Yo Majesty and Santogold, run their own Uppercuts and Ghettopop imprints and release on Sinden and Switch's Counterfeet label.

Live performances: alva noto "unitxt", Frank Bretschneider "rhythm", NHK "unun", and Byetone "d.o.a.t." (recently been voted Record of the Year 2008 by Beatport).

On January 30th Ryoichi Kurokawa presents his new 4-screen surround-sound-piece "Parallel Head", and Telcosystems perform "Mortals Electric".

Read on: Program II...Micachu and the Shapes, Jon Hopkins, Tim ExileThursday, January 29th features new experimental pop-music in a collaborative effort with Little Big: England's freshest talent Micachu has been signed to Matthew Herbert's Accidental Records and this year has been one of four composers chosen by the London Philharmonic to compose a piece for the orchestra. Tim Exile's new full length album will soon be released on Warp while Jon Hopkins' next album will come out on Domino next spring. Hopkins produces for Coldplay and currently works together with Brian Eno on the score for the forthcoming Peter Jackson movie "Lovely Bones".

Mutek will celebrate its 10th edition in May the same year.
