Carlos Amorales (born 1970, lives in Mexico City) works with a range of different cultural and social values which he continually relates to his Mexican origin. His work revolves around masks and the displacement and transmutation of identities, taking the form of bizarre fictional characters. In his performances or rather contemporary rituals he juxtaposes Mexican iconongraphy with Western reality. With its motto „Terrordisco – Working class today ... tomorrow NuevosRicos!“, the output of his NuevosRicos label, founded together with composer Julian Lede in 2003, investigates into economic and social questions with irony and the use of subversive strategies. For CTM.06 Amorales creates a mural.
