At 17, Takemasa started making music with acoustic guitars, bass and drums with a 4-track tape recorder in his hometown of Osaka. By 20, he’d moved on to computers and electronics, researching real-time audio synthesis and audio programming. Soon after, he formed the duo Silicom with Takagi Masakatsu in Kyoto, creating electronic music and visuals.

Takemasa’s collaboration with Tujiko Noriko began in 2002 when they were both booked the same event for The Cartier Foundation in Paris. Their album, 28, was picked up by Fat Cat Records and released in 2005. Takamasa has also worked with Teiji Sawai, and, in 2009, toured Japan with Fennesz, playing at venues including Metro in Kyoto and Unit in Tokyo.
