Felix Kubin’s soul-mates, this Hamburger trio consists of Sebastian Reiher (vulkan guitar and gadgets), the man behind the Edition Stora and the Nneon Label; that switch-panel-personified Jyrgen Hall (electronics), who plays with the Groenland Orchester and is known solo under the name Gunter Adler (Staubgold, mik.musik!); and baronesseA (video). With a click of the switches on modular synthesisers, Hall orchestrates circuitry in a manner reminiscent of György Ligeti, producing a sound akin to the ticking of unsynchronised clocks, whilst Reiher scrubs and rubs his guitar to breaking point. Their improvised sets create polyrhythmic staccato sounds like summer rain. Augsburger Tafelconfect is not so much about sound design as about the art of listening and, however misleading the term might be, about an apt selection of Super 8 sound films, during which the projector has been known to jump off the shelf and entangle the reels.
