Following her experience as a sounds creator, within the experimental group Nox in the 80's, Cecile Babiole has since been involved in video making and computer graphics. Cecile's stamina is based on the various opportunities introduced by the computer, where sounds and image meet. A Cecile Babiole performance or installation is the chance to witness the result of her observation when sound, image and space are either brought together or pulled appart to push the process to a whole new experience. Her achievement in computer arts has already been acknoledged by the following awards: Imagina, Images du futur, Ars Electronica, Festival de l'Audiovisuel Museographique, The Locarno Festival, SCAM Prize for her web site, Villa Medicis Hors les Murs Grant.
"DONJON" is an audiovisual concert performance in which the performers gleefully deconstruct a wide range of objects culled from popular culture, particularly audiovisual equipment: turntables, radios, computers, musical instruments, telephones, video cameras – but also cocktail blenders, battery chickens, and various other domestic and fantastic appliances of ages past and present.
From industrial music in the 1980s to an exploration of electronic and digital cultures in our day, Cécile Babioleʼs artistic trajectory has evolved laterally, cutting across the realms of music and the visual arts. in an ongoing reinterpretation of the relationship between image and sound.
