Sinologist, author and producer of audio plays, Hermann Bohlen has lived in Berlin since 1988. After working on the “Nachtflug” program on Radio 100, producing audio plays about Baratterie (sending oneself up) and questions about the noisy business of eating and drinking (gobble-smacking good), he ended his studies with a look at onomatopoeia in the Chinese language. Bohlen has won many awards and received grants for his work. In 2002 he devised the Plopp! competition for independent producers of audio plays at Berlin’s Academy of Arts. He works mostly with fictionalized original material that he compiles as critical and whimsical audio plays that are as funny as they are frightening.
