Cord Henning Labuhn was born in 1984, became acquainted with various musical instruments and computers during childhood. He began DJing in his youth, and proceeded to release his own music and records, MP3s, and CDs in a range of genres including hip-hop, house, and techno.
As a student of sociology and musicology at Berlin’s Humboldt University Cord worked on projects researching not only the practical but also the theoretical aspects of groove, hip-hop, and DJ culture. His studies on the digital future of DJing and its cultural conflicts are published in academic books and via open source.
Since 2006 Cord has brought open-minded electronic dance music to an international audience through numerous releases and countless performances as one half of the Berlin-based production and DJ duo Robosonic. The duo have been building and curating the podcast platform
Berlin Kreuzberg Institut since 2009 onward.
Using his original productions "Heartships", and "Home", as the foundations of his latest mix composition "Heart Ship Home", Cord defined a spectrum of hip-hop-infused electronica, minimalist songwriting, and beat science. In contrast to his other recent collaborative output, such as Robosonic’s mix album
Sweet and Nuts, and the
Worst Love EP for OFF Recordings, "Heart Ship Home" doesn’t aim for the dancefloor at all. Instead, it‘s made for sofa low riding, day-long bus trips, focused work, sweet solitude, love making...you name it!
