With a pair of MK2s and a microphone Jean-Baptiste Bressy delivers a wild mix of electro pop, techno, punk, hip-hop and hardcore. Known for his selective eclecticism, his favorites are drawn from such disparate sources as Rephlex, International Deejay Gigolo, Bpitch Control, Beastie Boys, Sonic Youth, My Bloody Valentine or Fugazi.
He is also a producer, with a 2006 release on the French label Karat (who also release
ark and
Cabanne), a schizoid record of crazy cut-up house produced with the help of Jackson Fourgeaud (aka
Jackson and his Computer Band) called
Jean Nipon vs. Aï: With All Your Power (KARAT 27). Bressy’s various monikers also appear in the credits of records on the following labels: Tigerbeat6, Alien8 Recordings, Ed Banger Records and Arcade Mode.
He is one half of electro synth-pop duo Teamtendo, who make music with customized gameboys, immortalized on an early Institubes EP simply titled
We (ins12003, 2004), and a member of the electro collective Büro/Deco. He’s remixed artists such as
TTC,
Ark, Cosmo Vitelli, and Lesbians on Ecstacy.
Bressy graduated in 2000 from the Beaux-Arts in Bordeaux where he now works as a graphic artist. He’s the designer behind the visuals for Zoobizarre (a music venue in both Bordeaux and Montreal), making flyers, concert posters and festival brochures. He is the resident Karat designer, and the resident DJ at the Paris Paris club.
He has performed at over 200 shows in Europe playing alongside artists such as DJ Krush, Aphex Twin, DJ Vadim, Asia Argento, Slint,
Modeselektor, and
Miss Kittin at festivals as prestigious as Les Eurockéennes, Le Festival des Vieilles Charrues, Sonar (Barcelona), and Transmusicales (Rennes). He has held residencies at Zoobizarre, Panik nights (Paris), Batofar (Paris), and Büro nights at Pulp (Paris).
