Pioneer group and emblem on the scene of global digital cumbia. Since 2003, the project born in Mendoza, Argentina has been crossing borders, reinventing their identity, first in their own land and then expanding their sound around the rest of the world, playing in Europe and USA's most important festivals (Coachella, Transmusicales in Rennes, Roskilde, Distortion Festival and Fusion Fest, among others).
The duo of programmers and mcs, originally built by
Color Kit (Cristian del Negro) and Catar_Sys (Federico Rodriguez, who died in November, 2010), released their first album
La Manita de Fauna (ZZK Records) in 2008, generating a before and after in electronic tropical music. Pure cumbia from the jungle, futuristic sounds and lyrics that go beyond the idea of the message, between fun and awareness, a portrait of life at the foot of the Andes.
Transmuting and growing, the group continues its destination with
Manshines (ZZK Records), a very expected second album that was ready to be edited when Catar_Sys left this world after a memorable South American tour with Villa Diamante through Chile, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Venezuela and Brazil.
Mixed and produced by Andrés Odonne and Frikstailers,
Manshines extends Fauna's sound. More beats, more powerful rhythms of cumbia, dubstep and kuduro, so the monkeys throw advanced lyrical, more mystical and even sharper than their predecessor album.
In 2011, facing the need to present the new album, a third Fauna member joins on vocals and programming: The DJ and producer, also from Mendoza,
Un Mono Azul. The group also designs and produces a new show with visuals by Lucas DM, renovated clothing and an explosive set, more oriented to dancefloor and tropical bass.
