Jason Forrest aka DJ Donna Summer is a producer, impresario and the mastermind behind Cockrockdisco and more recently the Nightshifters label. The Berlin-based American's distinct approach has been an innovating force in the field of sample-based music and he has been credited as being a pioneer in the emergence of the breakcore genre. Jason Forrest makes music that is a combination of many styles and genres, all edited into a sort of new rock sound. His live shows have garnered him a huge international audience, and involve much dad dancing, some blood, and a few shattered laptops. He also runs the label Cock Rock Disco, and used to host the radio program Advanced D&D. Together with Pure and CTM/DISK he founded the WASTED festival in 2005.
 
His album The Unrelenting Songs Of The 1979 Post Disco Crash was released in the US and EU by Mouse On Mars' Sonig records of Koln Germany in April of 2004. It received overwhelming positive support internationally in many periodicals, newspapers and even the occasional TV program. His second length album Shamelessly Exciting came out on Sonig records in october 2005, followed by a concert and video DVD and a bunch of EPs and singles on such as Broklyn Beats, Omeko, Irritant, Ljud Records. His new album The Everything will be released in April 2011 on the Staatsakt label.
 
In 2008 Forrest founded his new label Nightshifters representing artists like AC Slater and Hostage.
 
On August 6th, 2009, he released the iPhone app Star6, co-developed with Agile Partners. Star6 is a unique sample manipulation instrument made exclusively for the iPhone and iPod touch, which allows the user to alter preset or user-based samples by waving their device in the air. The app is currently available worldwide on iTunes and has received glowing reviews from CNET, NME, XLR8R, Pitchfork, The Unofficial Apple Website, and Create Digital Music among others.
