Habsyll, purveyors of doom / drone / sludge, hail from Toulouse in France. The trio of Yann, guitar and vocals, Fred, bass, and Nicoblast, drums and vocals, got together in 2006 and in 2009, released their debut LP, MMVIII, to critical acclaim. This two-track album was co-released by no fewer than six labels, including tUMULt in the US. Habsyll are currently working on a split LP with AUN (Martin Dumais) which will be released on the US label Public Guilt.
 
The current line-up of Habsyll features big names from grindcore and black metal. Guitarist and vocalist Yann Hagimont has also played in the grindcore groups Hypoptalasias and Fantastikol Hole, while drummer, Nicoblast (Nicolas Moncouet) has been associated with the metal bands Sughurim, Nuit Noire, Cthulu, Anal Rip, Hypoptalasias, Artemisia Absinthium and Darvulia. Habsyll have completed three full tours to date, playing alongside groups such as Monarch, Grey Daturas, Heavy Lord, Monno, Arabrot, Tamagawa, Death to Pigs, Holocaust in Your Head, Loan, El Paramo, C-utter, Grails, Overmars, Black Shape of Nexus, Pure, Alkerdeel and Sylvester Anfang.
 
The six labels behind the vaunted co-release of release of MMVIII included some of the most respected sludge / doom imprints from the UK, Austria, France, Spain, Canada and the USA.  They were: PsycheDOOMelic (Austria), Odio Sonoro (Spain), At War With False Noise (United Kingdom), Bande Noire (France), tUMULt (U.S.A.), Obskure Sombre (Canada).
 
Habsyll’s current projects include and upcoming split EP with Austrasian Goat (various labels); a Kraftwerk cover for a compilation LP on Blind Date records with bands like Monarch, Aldebaran, Atavist, Austrasian Goat, Bson, Coffins, Cough, Fistula, H.C Minds, Hey Colossus, Mary Bell, Moloch and Salome; a SWANS cover for a split EP with GOG; a split LP with AUN, which will be released on Public Guilt (Dalek, Zu, Kiss the anus of a black Cat, Aluk Todolo) in early 2010.
