Emerging as a sequencer shaman, Stefan Schwander has found his true calling in Harmonious Thelonious. Based in Düsseldorf, Schwander has amassed a sizable discography over the years, releasing under pseudonyms like Antonelli Electric and A Rocket In Dub, and has collaborated with his then-kindred spirit Jörg Burger in the Pop-Up project. 
 
While those projects tended to pursue synthetic grooviness with stylish restraint, Harmonious Thelonious overwhelms with a tangle of syncopated polyrhythms that blend and dissolve into ecstatic beds of distortion. Conceived as "American minimalism vs. African drumming vs. European sequencing", the result is something like world music for furious robots. The searing intensity of “Talking” (Italic, 2010) finds a more euphoric edge on his latest, “Listen”. This is wildly entrancing, primitivist, perfectionist digital voodoo.
