David Crompton and Andrew Herfst are Canadian artists who have been collaborating on audiovisual art since 2000. Herfst studied electoracoustic composition at the Simon Fraser University, Vancouver, and Crompton studied photography, video and film at the Emily Carr Institute, Vancouver. Their current work, funded by the Canada Council for the Arts and the British Columbia Arts Council is centered on the experimental mapping of urban environments using digital video, photography and multichannel audio field recordings. Crompton and Herfst have exhibited and screened inCanada, The United States, Europe and Japan. They define their work as a collection of moments in image and sound. The main subject in their work is urban space and its inherent subterranean aspects.
