Jasch, from Switzerland, owns a degree as a professional musician in doublebass from the Lucerne jazzschool and a masters in Digital Arts at Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona, Spain. He also followed studies in contemporary composition with Detlev Müller-Siemens at the Basel Music Academy and a 'Stage d'informatique musicale' at IRCAM in Paris. Jasch is active in electronic, contemporary, improvised music, performance-art and jazz. He writes pieces for theater and film. He is predominantly working in electro-acoustic and mixed-media projects using computer-generated sounds ad images. Jasch applies processes to images in much the same way as he does with music. Texturing and layering, temporal evolving structures and brief flashes of light play an important role in his abstract visual flow which oscillates and vibrates with a certain musical quality. The interplay between autonomous processes, algorithms and real-time gestural interaction through physical interfaces affects the composition of the pieces deeply. No element is completely prepared or preproduced. The resulting images are surprising, sensuous and sometimes erratic.
