Yannis Kyriakides is a composer and electronic musician, born in Cyprus, grew up in England and is currently living in Amsterdam. He has written over fifty works , focusing mainly on the use of electronics in performance and on creating new forms and hybrids of various media. His musical language is often characterized by shifting speeds unfolding on long time spans , often with a high rhythmic energy , the use of unorthodox sound sources and an exploration of spaces that highlight physical sound, temporal experience and the conceptual use of musical language. Large scale worls such us a conSPIracy cantata, and The Thing like Us are released on the UNSOUNDS label, which he runs with Andy Moor (the Ex). Forthcoming CD releases in 2005 include Wordless and The Buffer Zone. His fourth electronic opera will be produced in Stuttgart, FNM in July 2005.
