Grischa Lichtenberger was born in Bielefeld, in 1983. In 2009 he released his debut EP,
~treibgut ununbium, on german label Raster-Noton. The name ~treibgut, a system of references to the Rhine river, is used as a motto for his varied expressions: installations, videos, music, painting, and drawings.
Moving to Düsseldorf in 2006, Lichtenberger decided to rethink his artistic process – from its ethical legitimacy to its powers of conveying biographical, landscape and historical information – from scratch.
Living in Berlin since 2008, Grischa Lichtenberger has adopted the new "supertitle",
andyrchie iv, through which he aims to revaluate the common definition of landscape as "the place we live in". Lichtenberger’s focus is not only on musical expression, but on the process of creating art in general. Fascinated by the complexity and difficulties of communication and material referenciality, Lichtenberger seeks to overcome the dominance of functional interpretations while maintaining an open access to technology and production. His aim: to release art and music from the confines of the material, and of present societal constructs.
