Through the looking glass of his eclectic and cheeky electronics, Tim van Leijden looks back at the eighties and finds - Disco-Acid. His bumping, bizarre sounds leave heads nodding and shaking everywhere while the boy wonder looks on with a demented smile.
Leijden got interested in electronic music when he was about ten years old, hooked by the electro-pop that appeared around that time. Later, hip-hop music like the Ultramagnetic MCs, Public Enemy, and BDP had a big impact on him.
He’s been releasing abstract Techno and House for 14 years. The thirteenth year was celebrated with a special release in 2004
Like a Tim 13 – 1991-2004. His first record was on the Dutch Seesaw records, an early nineties house label, followed by long associations with Miss Djax’s (Saskia Slegers) Djax-Up-Beats, and Digital Hardcore Recording’s Geist Records. Leijden started his own imprint in 2003, Like Records, distributed by Clone. Like Records has six Like A Tim 12”s and two Like A Tim LPs on its catalogue to date. His tracks also appear on label compilations of Rephlex and Studio!K7 and he has remixed the likes of Speedy J, Robert Armani, Mike Dunn, Hardfloor and DMX crew.
