Los Refrescos is a new project by Argenis Brito and Martin Schopf. For the concert at the ICAS SUITE, Martin Schopf is unfortunately unavailable, and so, the two decided to transform their project into a one-time improvisation unit featuring Argenis Brito, Andrés Bucci and Miguel Toro.
Twin brothers of different mothers, Argenis Brito and Martin Schopf have a long history fo collaborations. One born in Chile the other one in Venezuela, these twins separated at birth reunited again in NYC to begin a long and fruitful musical career together and separately. Currently they work on their first album as Los Refrescos, a project that unites them musically and is intended to reflect their traveling and adventurous spirit. In the music of Los Refrescos, sensuality and sexuality is expressed by moderate b.p.m. and heavy latin and caribbean content.
Miguel Toro
Miguel Toro started his musical education at a very early age playing percussion and drumset in school bands in the 70′s and 80′s. Brighton and New York saw him develop his musical skills and he now lives in Berlin, where he makes music with artists like Aerea Negrot, Monica Kruse, Crashroots, Argenis Brito, Narcotic Syntax, Chico Trujillo,
Pier Bucci, Mambotur, Dinky,
Ellen Allien,
Mike Shannon, etc. He usually plays at Panorama Bar, Watergate, Bar 25, Maria, and other clubs around Europe, Africa and Asia. He releases his own material on labels like Moonharbour (Germany), Motivbank (Germany), Cadenza (Switzerland), Pantamuzik (Mexico) and Mobilee (Germany). In his own productions we can listen to all the genres learned through the years of living with and for the music, expanding the frontiers of genre and style mixture in an eclectic melting pot directed to the 'Rumberos' of the world.
Andrés Bucci
Former Chilean visual artist Andrés Bucci began producing music while living in Berlin. In 2002 he met Kate Simko in Santiago, and quickly the duo released the stunning
Shapes of Summer album for German label Traum. In 2004 Detalles performed at MUTEK.CL, then Bucci was invited to MUTEK Montreal 2005 and again in 2007. Since 2005 he started touring every year to different countries and playing in festival such as Synch Festival and many clubs around Europe and Japan. In 2006 Cynosure released his
Don Julios Converseria EP and in 2007 the Seattle Label Kupei Musika released the second Detalles album
Micros Morning as well as a solo 12" named
Chocopanda with a remix of Dandy Jack. In 2008 Horizontal label owned by Chilean producer Dinky released the EP
Avec Style as Bucci.
