Kaffe Matthews is one of the most active artists on the new electronic music scene, whose surprisingly rare approach exploiting digital gadgets and live performance has resulted in some unique works which transgress any boundary between sound and image. Playing classical violin from the age of 7 and playing in several bands, in 1985 she discovered electricity and sound and with that, her current trajectory. Since then there's been no stopping. Acid house engineering, electrically reconstructing the violin, a masters in Music Technology, introducing and running a Performance Technology course at one of the leading live arts colleges in the UK, and establishing the london based label Annette Works. She also set up a shop and did a Zoology degree along the way. Since 1996 Matthews has been regularly performing all over the world in clubs, galleries, concert halls, boats, warehouses, releasing the best of these events. Besides her label she has also developed a line of sonic furniture, has done installations and has recently collaborated and performed with AGF, Mimeo or Christian Fennesz.
