Self-described ‘dirty monkey from Osaka Japan’, OVe-NaXx (Isao Sano) is a masked maniac representing the new Nippon-ish Breakcore. Sci-fi sounds, industrio-post-apaolyptica beats mix with Death Metal guitar samples, distortion, speed-ragga and fat synth loops for brutal and bezerk performances and recordings. Osaka has already bred generations of noise, punk and hardcore artists in its industrial chaos and Sano is true to his roots – shards of noise cut through his meticulous productions with crystalline sharpness.
With intricate and idiosyncratic touches Sano builds up his hard-core Sample-Pop, subsuming every imaginable genre - Middle-Eastern, Country, Rock, Dub, traditional Japanese and J-Pop, video-game music - into frenzied distortion.
With beginnings playing to passers-by on the streets of New York last century, Isao Sano now has a schedule as frantic as his music, performing and recording in Japan and internationally. Sano’s first OVe-NaXx releases were self-published. His first in 2000 was a fully realised 8-track cassette tape titled
Dokuya (Poison Shop). The second a perhaps self titled
Wobunakusu 7 track CD-R in 2001, and another tape later the same year,
Anarchy in the Middle Age, in a limited 99 copy edition.
After setting up his own imprint Accelmuzhik (with releases from artists The Flashbulb and drillchop9) in 2002, and putting out his CD
Ovnx Shoot Accel Core –an album of spastic but beautifully crafted breakcore, his first release outside Japan was on DJ/rupture’s Soot Records,
Bullets from Habikino City 12”. In 2003, the infamous OVe-NaXx/Donna Summer split LP appeared from Addadat, and was followed by a UK tour in 2004.
2004 also saw a single on Tigerbeat6’s Shockout and remixes for European and Japanese labels (Death$sucker, the Agriculture, Ad Noiseam), and 2005, the OVe-NaXx Berlin debut at CTM’s Wasted festival.
