In 2002, UK electronic musician Elliot Perkins began the project "Eurodac Express." The project was originally conceived of as a collaboration with Bangladeshi photographer and migrant organizer Shahidul Alam of the Drik Project. Combining beats, field recordings and interviews, "Eurodac Express" traces the experiences of migrants transiting across the EU into communities in Northern England, Germany and Italy. The project was first presented as part of the Futuresonic Festival in Manchester, England in November 2002. Under the pseudonym Phonem, Perkins has released albums on Morr Music (DE), Beta Bodega (US) and Vertical Form (UK).
