DJ and producer Prins Thomas (Thomas Moen Hermansen) has been instrumental in establishing the 'cosmic' brand of Nordic disco, and is known for the obscure records and expert edits that fill his sets. After teaming up with compatriot Lindstrøm in 2003, Hermansen released a series of solo 12”s on Rong Music, his own Full Pupp and Kompakt, as well two albums with Lindstrøm for Eskimo Recordings. A consummate remixer, Prins Thomas has offered up interpretations of Bebel Gilberto, Radio Slave and Hatchback, Alexander Robotnick for Crme Organization, Answering Machine and Manuel Goettsching for Expanded Music in Italy.
 
Hermansen started to experiment with DJing around the age of 9-10 in 1984-5 after getting into hip-hop and electro. He put together a bedroom set-up of two different belt-drive turntables (without pitch) and a tape player for recording pause-button edits. By the early 90s, he was playing in bands from punk and psychedelic pop to weekly jam sessions with local talent in his hometown. After learning cello and bass while at school, and playing guitar, bass, drums and singing in bands, he was asked by friends to DJ at their new club in the mid-90s. Honing his eclectic style with the support of small town locals, Prins Thomas developed wide-ranging appeal. He reportedly won the heart of Hans Peter Lindstrøm after dropping a Wham track at an Oslo club.
 
In mid-2007, Thomas released his acclaimed mix-album on Eskimo, a two and half hour set of eclectic tracks spanning psychedelica, electronica, disco, nu-jazz, tribal house, and lounge. The tracklist included obscure solo efforts from Can’s front man Holger Czukay, sublime 60s pop from Joe Meek, jazz noodle king Bob James’ clunky break beat record, and psychedelic pop from Mod girl group The Paper Dolls woven together with contemporary tracks from artists such as The Mole, Soylent Green and Matias Aguayo, with classics from funk giants Parliament and laptoppers Boards of Canada. Thomas also contributed an acclaimed mix to the RA Podcast series that was made up of a swag of obscure and unknown cuts.
 
After teaming up with Lindstrøm in 2003, it appeared that Prins was the DJ and Lindstrøm was the live act, Thomas has increasingly struck out on his own producing for labels such as Kompakt, Mindless Boogie and his own imprint Full Pupp, notably is Ferrara 12” (2006). When performing live, the pair purveys a mixture of laptop with Ableton and keyboards, vinyl, CDs and effects. As Lindstrøm & Prins Thomas, Hermansen and Lindstrøm have collaborated on a number of productions for both Feedelity and Eskimo Recordings, including two full lengths and countless remixes. Hermansen’s next mix CD Prins Thomas & Full Pupp present The Greatest Tits Volume 1 was released in July, 2008, a showcase for the mostly Norwegian artists on the label he co-owns with Stevie Kotey of Chicken Lips. Hermansen also set up Tamburin in 2001, the predecessor of Full Pupp, and runs Internasjonal, a label more oriented toward international acts.
