The Allstars are an ambient electronic supergroup with campy, country overtones. Established primarily as a live performance outfit, there are only two records in their discography; “Volume One – Higiene Mental” (1996) and “Volume two – Live at the Luv Parade (1998), both released on Disco-B.
Founded by techno legend Abe Duque in 1989, the variable line-up’s original members included John Selway, Mika Vainio, Prozac, Stroboscopic. Susanne Brokesch, Szostek, Taylor Deupree, and they have become renowned for stomping ambient howdowns around the globe. They throw down a weird mix of electronic, country, ambient, disco, karaoke, improvisation with guitars, 303s, Chinese harps, and all sorts of other exotic things, including Serotonin Records’ Selway jigging on the violin.
The regrouped Ranchos are back in the saddle again in 2006. This time around it will be Abe Duque, John Selway, Prozac, Clé Kahlke, and Jochen Reiter (plus honorary Ranchos riding in for the occasion!) on their ‘Yes-Men’ European tour to promote their new album “The Answer Is Always Yes”. Get ready for anything. Hrrrccckkh-ptoo.
