Reverend Beatman (b. 1967) occupies a niche entirely of his own invention: gospel-trash, garage and voodoobilly. A primal one man band (nuns at his side) with a guitar a kick drum, hi-hat and a microphone, the Beatman channels Hasil Adkins via unpredictable, inflammatory musical excess.
 
Reverend Beatman is the founder of Voodoo Rhythm Records and the man that led Switzerland’s premiere garage punk band, The Monsters. The Monsters were formed in 1986, with the Beatman on guitar and vocals, in Bern. Their sound was a fuzzy mix of 70s punk, rockabilly and primitive rock and roll.
 
Teab Zerfall was the first incarnation of Reverend Beatman when he started out in the early 80s releasing his music on the tape-only label of the same name. In 1984, he rechristened himself ‘Lightning Beat-Man the Wrestling one-man show’.
 
In 1992, he founded Voodoo Rhythm Records as an outlet for the musical genre he’d helped spawn, and in 1999 changed his name to Reverend Beatman.
 
Beatman has since played countless festivals in Europe: the Jazz Festival Montreux (CH) Rock oz Arenes (CH), Eurokeen (FR) Dour (B); in the US (Las Vegas Grind); the UK (Frat Shack) and many other gigs across Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Spain, France, Italy, Slovenia, the USA (CBGB’s, Maxwell’s and others) Brazil (Black Jack and many others), Argentina (BA Stomp and many others), Belgium, Holland, Denmark, Japan (Shelter and many others) and the UK.
 
Beat-Man plays in two other projects, Die Zorros and The Coronets.
