Dont Rhine is a founding member of the audio activist group Ultra-red. Launched in 1994, the Los Angeles-based Ultra-red is made up of political organizers from different social movements who collaborate together with and as artists and musicians. Rhine has been a labor activist and an AIDS activist. As a member of the Los Angeles chapter ACT UP (AIDS Coalition to Unleash Power), he helped found the Hollywood needle exchange, Clean Needles Now, in 1992. Presently, he helps organize AIDS activist training workshops for clients of AIDS service organizations in Los Angeles.
