Alexander Rishaug is a sound artist, producer and electronic musician based in Oslo, Norway. He is part of the innovative electronic scene in Norway together with Jazkamer, Information, Alog, Biosphere and Fe-mail. His sound is melodic, melancholic and quiet. With minimalistic electronics, abstract beats, glitches and digital noise, he explores tones and textures creating a detailed, rich and subtle sound. Always with a sharp focus on structure, rythm and melodies.
 
Alexander himself describes the music as "small melodic changes, amplyfies clicks and skipping, random shifts and breaks. As a starting point I search for a distinct quality in the sound. The nature of my sounds origins often from self played instruments, field recordings or just asking some friends to play and record some material for me. An example of this is 'The Mountain song' that is based on an organ sample that I once played and recorded, then processed, re-played and edited in my computer. I wanted to create a warm and beautiful sound with random skipping and unexpected shifts, consisting of both melodic and abstract elements. This is related to my musical approach not only in this piece, but also in my music process in general."
 
Rishaug is also a part of the improv trio ARM with Arne Borgan and Are Mokkelbost (Single Unit, Killl), which has sparked off collaborations with musicians such as Håkon Kornstad, Pål Asle Pettersen, Martin Horntvedt, Kari Rønnekleiv, Ingar Zach, Tonny Klyften, Ole Henrik Moe, John Hegre, Jørgen Træen, Ivar Grydeland, Toshimaru Nakamura and Salvatore.
 
As a duo he often collaborates with computer artist Marius Watz for the creation of audio-visual performances.
