Andreas Schimanski, born 1966, received a degree in architecture and studied fine arts at UdK Berlin (class of Katharina Sieverding). He received his M.F.A. in 1999 and won several art prizes and grants (e.g. video art prize Bremen 1994, German art prize for photography DG Bank 1996, grant for visual arts from the Berlin senate). 2000-01 he lived worked in New York and realized several collaborative works with Angelika Middendorf. Since 1993 he explores the processes of perception and image technologies in his works and developed a focussed picture language that is affected by minimalism.
