This team of three (or two) are avid proponents of Munich bass – a kitchen-sink mix of bootybass, dubstep, cumbia and Bavarian schranz, among other things. Their first EP,
Belly Full of Pills, was launched by Munich-based imprint, Disko B, in early 2009 as a precursor to the Schlachthof Bronx self-titled debut album, which came out later in the year.
Schlachthof Bronx reputedly formed at an impromptu gathering at a Lidl car-park of the slaughterhouse neighbourhood (hence the name) in Munich, united by a shared love of dirty hybrid of African kuduro, South American cumbia, Caribbean soca, dancehall, Brazilian Baile funk, Cape Verdian funana, American bootybass, and UK dubstep. They now run a regular club night at Rote Sonne, called HypieHypie. Guests have included Amanda Blank, (USA), Radoclit (UK), Niyi (UK), Sweat X (RSA), DJ Manaia (PT), South Rakkas Crew (USA), Congorock (Italy), el Hijo de la Cumbia (ARG), Boy 8Bit or Mumdance (UK).
We Run This, Schlachthof Bronx’s second EP, was released by British label On the Brink in December 2009.
