We're not exactly sure if we are supposed to talk about chillwave in present or past tense, but Serotonin Sunshine elegantly bypassed this dilemma by pushing the genre over its limits. Melodies still play a central role, but layers of noise are piled over them, ultimately adding more vivid or even harsh colours to the usually flaxen chillwave palette.
