Shlohmo is Henry Laufer, a young producer from L.A. who first made his name with a handful of lofi EPs. Stepping things up, his acclaimed debut full-length "Bad Vibes" (Friends of Friends, 2011) is an ambient take on Low End Theory hip hop combined with reverb-drenched, blown-out bedroom tapes of guitar dabbling. The album marks a significant departure in style from the young Californian’s previous releases; steeped in emotion and recorded with real instruments and vocals from Laufer himself, the album presents what is undoubtedly his most cohesive and personal work to date. Shlohmo is also active with the prolific Wedidit Collective.
