Guy Tavares is a key figure in The Hague and Rotterdam’s underground. As manager of the Bunker Records label and Motorwolf labels and a member of the network, Global Darkness, he’s been at the center of both Techno/Electro and the Punk/Motorrock scene in the Netherlands since the end of the 80s. The one is purely electronic, the other pure Rock with drum and guitar. Tavares sees his commitment to both fields as simply two sides of the same coin, characterized by grim sounds, dark moods and delusional energy. He first became known at the start of the 90s as a member of the Hardcore-Techno-Noise formation, Unit Moebius, as well as for the Acid Planet parties he co-organized, mostly in squats. Under the alias, Schmerzlabor, Tavares is more than partly responsible for Bunker Records’ significant sound. He plays as a drummer in the 69’ Acid Rock band, Orange Sunshine, and the Drone Metal project
Al Naafiysh. A talented polemicist, he persistently crosses musical and visual motives to create idiosyncratic propaganda for a musical intensity that’s inseparable from life-style.
