The name behind Random Noize Sessions is Marco Haas, DJ and producer known by the stage name T.Raumschmiere. Haas is co-founder of the Shitkatapult label (now run in collaboration with Sascha Ring (
Apparat), and was the leading force - through his performances, solo and with various bands – that put
‘rockno’ and
‘punkno’ into the electronic music lexicon. T.Raumschmiere has also released on Sender, Kompakt and on Nova Mute. He’s done remix work for Slicker (Hefty),
Rechenzentrum (Kitty Yo), Jacob Fairley (Dumb Unit) and has appeared on compilations from labels such as BPitch Control, NBI, Salo and WMFrec.
Marco Haas (1975) is from Heidelberg. In the early ‘90s, Haas drummed with hardcore band Zorn (translation: anger), performing more than 300 shows around Europe and releasing two albums on Maximum Voice Records (Leipzig). In 1997 Haas won a contest with his rock band Stormbow, the winnings of which financed the making of their debut record. The
Stormbow release was the first on the now notorious Shitkatapult label, co-founded in the same year by Haas and Marcus Stotz in Heidelberg.
Moving to Berlin in 1998, Haas developed his T.Raumschmiere alter-ego. The first track
Der Stromgauner under this name appeared on the compilation series
Cozmick Suckers Volume Orange (Shitkatapult) in 1999. At the same time Haas was working with Ulli Bomans on a project called shrubbn!! that was based on noise improvisation. The first shrubbn!! recording
Thema also appeared on the
Cozmik Suckers compilation.
T. Raumschmiere’s debut album,
Stromschleifen, came out in 2000 and triggered an extensive round of touring. His infamous follow-up,
The great Rock and Roll Swindle appeared in late 2002. In 2003, Raumschmiere enlisted drummer Dirk Mielenhausen and bass player Andreas Paruschke and sound engineer Allert Aalders for live concerts and started to sing. 2004 saw the T.Raumschmiere band tour Europe playing festivals in Belguim, Holland, Spain and Germany. Longplayer
Blitzkrieg Pop followed in 2005. The next year, while doing shows with the band and as a DJ, Haas produced the debut of his punk-rock band The Crack Whore Society (formerly known as Mos Eisley Rock) for German label Angora Steel (a division of Compost Records). The same year he set up the publishing company
Random Noize Musick GmbH with friends
Daniel Meteo and Florian Schmieg.
In late 2006, T.Raumschmiere's fifth full-length album
The Random Noize Sessions Vol.1 was released on Shitkatapult. It featured a collection of lost studio and live recordings made between 1996 and 2005. T.Raumschmiere released his sixth album,
I Tank U in late 2008.
