Commissioned by Hamburger Kunsthalle and Siemens Arts Program, "Return to Space", Hamburger Kunsthalle (on view till Feb. 12, 2006).
 
Middendorf’s work reflects designs in/of space in the last century and is based on a drop of water floating through an infinite white space. Acoustic accompaniment is sci-fi texts, in reference to Kubrick’s supercomputer HAL 9000.
