This new work by Spanish choreographer Pablo Ventura, distinguishes itself by consistent reductionism. The three and a half meter high aluminum robot, Kubic, built for Ventura’s last production, Fabrica III, by robot specialist, Louis Philipp Demers, has become an independent protagonist in intensive choreographic research. As part of his artist in residence sojourn at tesla in January, Ventura developed choreography for Kubic. Permutations of robotic movements allow expression to be compacted. The robot’s movements are in dialog with a multi-channel sound environment, composed specially by Francisco Lopez, a renowned exponent of electronic Minimal-Fundamentalism.
