Though from very different backgrounds, Francisco López and Guy Tavares are united by their constant, uncompromising commitment to their work and their purism: a consciously limited range of source material for performances, years of consistent musical research, precision, the demand that listeners immerse themselves completely in their music, the desire for an intensity undisturbed by external influences and their refusal of anything parenthetical. Spaniard López has been working for 20 years on his ideal of an absolutely concrete music which consists entirely of manipulated field-recordings that he either spins into filigree sculptured sound or arranges as the ear-splitting hiss of a "bruit brut." Tavares’ speciality is a DJ-set of consummate finesse in total darkness with a maximum of 10 records, each with its own history. He’ll hi-jack your ears in a darkly enigmatic audio realm of dreams and nightmares.
