The work, "Genretapete" ("Genre Wallpaper") plays on the contrary motifs of singularisation and collectivisation within Pop culture by tracing the daily permutation of codes used to describe music. As part of their comprehensive project on processes of identification in music cultures, "Sweet Dreams Are Made Of This …", Rohlf and Maverick have since 2001 been collecting the names of musical genres that are invented by individual music producers and recipients to denote affiliation or exclusion. In Structuralist terms, the alphabetically listed musical genres represent signifiers of recipients' personal experience. Recipients function in this regard as sounding–boards for each genre.
