Monitoring is the buzzword of the past decade. Particularly since the emergence of the phenomenon of social communities, not only being monitored, but also self-monitoring has taken on the dimensions of a cheerfully practiced mass sport. Ringewaldt's information display system 'timelap' makes use of this phenomenon of self-portrayal and of blissfully being monitored. It is an enjoyable form of monitoring, which simultaneously serves as an automated documentation of events and as a system for communicating information on the flow of the festival's program.
