CTM is proud to present the Recombinant Media Lab's
CineChamber at HAU 2. RML's european CineChamber is a sizable and intimate, immersive, self-contained space conceived as a mobile environment and incubator for inter- and pluramedia works that range from wrap-around synaesthetics to telegenic performance settings, from real-time installation interactions with live music to programmed exhibition screenings.
The 8x12 metre chamber is walled by 10 large-scale screens, features 8.8.2 multi- channel sound and a custom-applied kinetic floor vibration units.
This full AV CineChamber can be "played" or manipulated as an AV instrument and urges artists the opportunity to take their creative impulse to further ranges of aural, optical and cinematic expression.
Recombinant Media Labs, regularly invites renowned international musicians and artists for residences to experiment with the system and develop artistic audiovisual "hybrid media" works. This portfolio of these archives is the basis of four program-blocks of about 54 minutes shown twice each day, each featuring a new, specially commissioned piece.
In cooperation with the ECAS (European Cities of Advanced Sound) network, Signal, Monolake and Tarik Barri (Monolake Live), Deadbeat and Lillevan and Edwin van der Heide were commissioned to develop new works especially for the RML CineChamber in its Berlin incarnation. The new compositions were developed as first versions in progress during the course of January as the system was set up for several weeks before moving into the HAU theatre.
Each Module will be shown for a total of nine times in the course of the festival – once each day and once each night.
As the CineChamber can only host an audience of 150 at a time, the amount of available tickets per Module is strictly limited. Admission to the CineChamber Modules is free for holders of a CTM-Festival-Pass, a CTM/TM-Kombi-Pass or an Accreditation. Pass and Accreditation holders have to pick up a reservation at the box office of the HAU 2 in advance. We advise to do so in due time, as entrance can not be granted once the allocated number of reservations for pass and accreditation holders is exceeded.
