The work of Berlin based artist duo Köbberling & Kaltwasser focuses on the city as a field of artistic experimentation, on the themes of public space, sustainability and self-organisation. They mount installations, exhibitions and interventions in urban space by which they question city life critically under the sign of privatisation and economic pressure, pointing out the practical examples of temporary uses and informal methods, as well as the possibilities for enlivening and reappropriating the terrain. The work "Crushed Cayenne" for the CTM.08-Lounge – a one to one model of a crashed SUV (sport utility vehicle) built from found materials – is a cynical answer to the hedonistic consumerist lifestyle in the 21 century. SUV’s have become more and more popular in the last years, and almost each car producer has developed it's own model, although they use a lot more petrol and space and produces more CO2 output than "normal" cars. The work can be used by visitors as seating.
