CTM takes its 10th anniversary as an occasion for reflection on the past and analysis of the present, but more particularly for a look ahead into the future of a music culture that is constantly shifting.
A novelty within the festival 2009: the comprehensive daytime discourse at Kunstraum Kreuzberg / Bethanien dedicated to the festival theme STRUCTURES – Backing-up Independent Audio-visual Cultures
. Between theory and practical approach – presented in a mix of presentations, lectures, panels, workshops, performances, installations and films – CTM.09 will turn its daytime venue into a thematic laboratory and vivid place of experiment, exchange and learning. The Laboratory – within the scientific or academic context, a space for work and shelter for both bold experiments with unclear outcomes and carefully controlled and regulated tests – is the ideal metaphor for this free space.
The findings of this laboratory situation can be seen as Exhibition
for 4 additional weeks after the end of the festival until 1 March as "imprint" and "note" in the form of an exhibition alongside with the Installations
accompanies the activities with commentaries, additional materials and more in-depth information.
Essential part of the program will be the meeting of international festival organizers I.C.A.S. – International Cities of Advanced Sound
and for the first time the Creative Independents Network Market
, that gives professional protagonists of independent music and media cultures the opportunity to present their products, inform about their activities and make new contacts. The festival Lounge
open daily serves as a meeting point for festival guests – with coffee, snacks and Internet – designed by raumlabor_berlin.
