"Skinstrument 2", installation, 2009
In the installation "Skinstrument 2", several players can simultaneously generate sounds on six, hexagonally arranged terminals through skin contact. Through increasing or decreasing the surface area of skin in contact with the terminal or through the touch of other individuals, the sounds can be modulated through changing the electrical tension-resistance of the skin surface. "Skinstrument 2" will be publicly demonstrated at CTM.09 for the first time. The media artist Daan Brinkmann lives and works in The Hague. In his mostly interactive works he explores the possibilities for synaesthetic experience and collective play.
Daan Brinkmann, born in 1983, is a media artist from Amsterdam. Since 2004 his main focus is on interactive art, often using computer technology, light and sound as the main elements of his work. His projects often engage the spectator in an explicit manner. Rather than the empirical elements of his work being the artwork itself, they are often used as a means to achieve a new kind of social experience.
