Festival for Unlimited Art and Music, Marseille, FR.
RIAM, Les Rencontres Internationales des Arts Multimédia or Festival for Unlimited Art and Music, takes place in Marseille each february. It is an initiative of the non-profit association Technè.
Searching for a dialog with a network of artistic organizations, RIAM aims at giving the enhancing visibility and understanding of the artists presented. Thus the festival has chosen not to communicate "digital arts" as a distinct genre, but to establish a lively dialog with other experimental and innovative art forms. The festival puts the accent on a limited selection of artists, to whom substantial resources are offered for unique productions at various spaces.
RIAM and Techné are equally concerned by the importance of building networks of organizations, places and artists across the diversity of current of artistic and theoretical positions. The pourpose is to stimulate a dialog on both the ethical and aesthetical questions stirred up by the advancement of new technologies.
Beyond the RIAM festival, Techné offers continuous support to artists for new productions, producing and curating a range of other events and editorial projects.
