Festival, Krakow, PL.
Run by Mat Schulz and Gosia Plysa, Unsound Festival is a champion of evolving and mutating forms of music, as well as related visual arts. Celebrating its tenth edition this year, it takes place from October 14th to October 21st in Kraków, Poland.
Unsound Krakow was established in 2003 in Krakow, Poland, as a festival of innovative music. Starting out as an underground event, in recent years the festival has remarkingly grown in size and name.
The organizational body behind the festival, Fundacja Tone, currently produces the 10th edition of the annual festival to take place in Krakow this October. In spring 2012 the third edition of the festival's offspring Unsound New York was organized with local producers, curators and cultural institutes in that city. Also with local partners Unsound/Fundacja Tone has produced events in Prague, Warsaw, Bratslava, Kiev and Minsk.
Unsound is interested in the idea of cross border collaboration, and thinks of the festival as a tool for commissioning and fostering new work. Another of the festival's aims is the promotion of music from Poland and generally of the region of Eastern Europe.
