Based in Toulouse, Southern France, Les Siestes Electroniques is a summer meeting point for emerging artists. Short, yet perfectly balanced, the recipe of the festival allures your taste buds with a hedonist view on contemporary forms of music. Its ambitious motley line-up aims at a professional audience as well as the general public and the fact that its open air and daylight concerts are free of charge makes Les Siestes Electroniques a rare and precious occurrence within the landscapes of European festivals.
Part of the ICAS network, Les Siestes Electroniques is thus deeply involved into electronic music, new media, cutting-edge art, forward thinking culture and so on ... since 2002! Constantly renewing itself with the aim to escape the "advanced sound festival" routine, Les Siestes recently organized an original carbon copy of the Toulousian festival in Brazzaville (Congo) and at the Quai Branly museum (Paris), which is the biggest cultural institution in the world dedicated to non-occidental cultures. Following those groundbreaking experiences, the "Africa is the Future" program within the ICAS SUITE tries to re-capture and further this African-European exchange.
With DJ Zhao, Secousse Sound System (aka Etienne Tron of Radioclit) and Jess & Crabbe, the night brings together a mixed bag of DJs and producer teams who have devoted many years of their time to fostering club-musical dialogue between Africa and Europe, rendering clear that the African continent is not only an essential source of inspiration for western dance and club music, but more and more also the cradle of exciting new contemporary electronic music like Shangaan Electro, Kuduro, Kwaito or African House.
