We have changed our URL from clubtransmediale.de to ctm-festival.de and from now on will not use the name "club transmediale" any more for our activities. Please refer to us as "CTM" or "CTM Festival" only. Accordingly our email-addresses have changed. Please, update your contacts and links. Just exchange the "clubtransmediale.de" part in our former email-addresses with "ctm-festival.de".
This change of URL serves two ways: first, we weren't happy any more with the word "club" having such a prominent position in the title of our festival. Not that we do not feel much obliged to and inspired by club cultures anymore, both of the past and present, but over the years the festival developed from what originally clearly had a focus on club culture and electronic music to an event that encompasses a much wider agenda. Today we engage with music of almost all types and formats in all kinds of contexts and venues, ranging from churches to theatres to sound laboratories. We also cross over even more into the arts and media cultures, exchange with academic research facilities and universities, and explore the realms of experimental sound and art also on practical levels with workshops and labs – even for kids. In parallel the term "club", which in the mid to late nineties held the promise of a participartory environment open to all sorts of arts and practises, has narrowed down more and more to dance music only. Thus it became obvious to us, that using "club" in the title of the festival points no longer into the right direction. CTM is and will be about contmporary club musics and cultures – but this is only one of many directions we take.
Second, by avoiding the term "transmediale", we hope to clear up the blurry amalgamation of us and our partners transmediale – Festival for Art and Digital Culture, that in the past has caused quite some misunderstandings on the side of audiences and journalists. transmediale and CTM will of course keep up its fruitful and meaningful collaboration. More so, we both hope to intensify and improve our joint efforts for our 2012 editions. We just hope that switching to "CTM", a term which we have increasingly used in parallel to "club transmediale" during the past years, will help both partners to communicate their activities and concerns in a more distinct and clear way – and with this sharpened definition to keep on moving jointly on the same trajectories. |
