The program for ICAS SUITE, a project launched by the CTM Festival in the framework of Berlin Music Week, now stands, and tickets are already on sale. For four nights between September 7 and 10, members of the ICAS international festival network present artists of their choice at the venues Festsaal Kreuzberg, Monarch, West Germany, Paloma and the newly opened Blumenbar Club.
Hyperdubs’ new discovery Ossie, Jonsson/Alter and Mokira aka Andreas Tilliander of Kontra-Musik in Sweden are the latest confirmed performers, along with Night Slugs’ shooting star Jam City, Cosmin TRG, whose new album Simulat will be out at the end of August on Modeselektor’s 50 Weapons label, and Iranian sound artist Sohrab, now in exile in Berlin and whose politically charged field recordings and ambient pieces are available on the meritorious Touch label. To boot, a rare and long-awaited live set by The Mole.
Further highlights:
The ICAS SUITE kicks off with a line-up put together by the TodaysArt Festival in Brussels and The Hague: Conforce, 2562 and Peter van Hoesen, three leading lights of the Benelux’ young generation in progressive club music will play in the intimate setting of Monarch.
Sweden's Full Pull Festival presents Islaja, Midaircondo and The Magic State, electronic musicians from Scandinavia whose Free-Folk, finely chiselled experimental Pop, sound collages, late-night jazz, ritual and natural mysticism paints a fragile, cryptic, atmospheric picture of Europe’s northernmost reaches.
CTM presents the project PLAY: ad hoc improvisations by alternating duos, which will go on till dawn. The line-up with Schneider TM, Preslav Literary School, Jan Zimmermann, Benjamin L. Aman, Robert Lippok, Mario de Vega and Erik Minkkinen was invited and coordinated by sound curator Eric Mattson of Montréal.
At the invitation of the MUTEK Festivals in Argentina, Chile and Mexico, Toy Selectah, the Raverton inventor who publishes his “World Music 2.0” on Diplo’s label, Mad Decent, intends to join forces with digital cumbia pioneers Fauna and catapult Berliners into the future of Latin American club music.
With DJ Zhao, Secousse Sound System (aka Etienne Tron of Radioclit) and Jess & Crabbe, the French Festival Les Siestes Electroniques bring to the ICAS SUITE a mixed bag of DJs and producer teams who have devoted many years of their time to fostering club-musical dialogue between Africa and Europa. That Africa is not only an essential source of inspiration for contemporary dance music, but also the cradle of exciting new music like shangaan electro, kuduro, kwaito or african house needs no further explanation.
Groove and De:Bug, Germany’s incomparable magazines for "electronic music and club culture" and "Elektronische Lebensaspekte, Musik, Leben, Selbstbeherrschung" (electronic life factors, music and self-control) are within the ICAS SUITE’s media partners. Their respective chief editors will step up in Paloma to play their editorial teams’ fave raves, so come party in a space where to mingle is the only option.
And there is much more besides, so check out the full program.
Tickets cost between 7,- and 12,- EUR (day-passes or single tickets), or treat yourself to four nights of unbridled entertainment with an ICAS SUITE PASS (30,- EUR). Online advance tickets are available now in our ticket shop.
