DISK Session #16: PRELL & IGNAZ SCHICK |
// Date: Sun, September 30, 2007
// Time: 21h
// Venue: General Public, Schönhauser Allee 167c, 10435 Berlin
Ignaz Schick (DE) and Prell (HU) aka Peter Márton meet in Berlin to develop a sound-improvisation-performance for the end of the project THE BLIND SPOT. In this talk/presentation at General Public within the context of the exhibition ANTIDROM the two artists reveil the process and experiences of their collaboration.
Prell is influenced by musicians like Francisco Lopez or the early work of Jim O'Rourke. His signature style Noise-Ambient creates a sea of sound to totally immerse the listener. In former times Prell collaborated with Tigrics aka Robert Bereznyei in the band project Rianás. Now as solo artist he does not only experiment with his laptop but also with a range of self-made electronic devices to create his most individual sounds. He is defenitely one of the most interesting artists of the Hungarian experimental music scene.
Ignaz Schick is a master at the turntables without records. He studied saxophone in the eighties. During that time he started to do his sound experiments with analogue sampling methods and multi-track recording. Later he began to explore the sound possibilites of found objects and self-made electronic devices and tried out a wided range of techniques: vinyl manipulations, contact mics & pick-ups, sinewave & feedback sets. Not only the diversity of his musical approach but also the number of his collaboration projects seem impressive: Chris Abrahams (AUS), Alexei Borisov (RUS), Sebastian Buczek (PL), Phil Durrant (GB), Gunnar Geisse (D), The Haters (USA), Dawid Szczesny (PL), Martin Tetreault (CAN), Marcel Tuerkowsky (D), Wolfram (PL) ...
