Canadian dub-techno producer Deadbeat (aka Scott Monteith) will be pairing up with acclaimed German video-artist Lillevan (ex-Rechenzentrum) for the German premiere of an audio-visual spectacle the pair has been quietly developing over the last year. Of the collaboration, that was premiered at this year's MUTEK festival, Monteith says, “We’ve put together something that stands out as quite unique from anything either of us have done before.”


From his humble beginnings with the Montreal local Hautec imprint for his first EP in 2000, to the worldwide acclaim of 2008’s Roots and Wire, his sixth album, Monteith has spent much of the last decade firmly establishing his credentials as an evolutionary force of the dub-techno template at his creative core. In summer 2011 he released the new album Dawn & Quartered on his own BLKRTZ imprint, diving deep into experimental crackly dub territories and heavy atmosphers. The 6 tracks of the album server as the starting point for tonights av collaboration.


Best known as founding member of the audio-visual group Rechenzentrum (1997-2008), Lillevan has been internationally celebrated as the go-to video and media artist for a generation of electronic artists that includes Christian Fennesz, Morton Subotnik, Vladislav Delay, Iannis Xenakis, and more. Since the mid-nineties he has mainly investigated non-narrative facets of film, which has lead him to completely abstract works, but also to collage explorations of film history, interactive works for dance groups and much more.

Its mandate is to provide a platform for the most original and visionary artists currently working in their fields, with the intent of providing an outlet of initiation and discovery for the audiences we seek to develop.
