Pre-Cert Home Entertainment is a label that is curated by Demdike Stare (Modern Love) and Andy Votel (Finders Keepers) in their quest to document contemporary musical and non-musical material created in the northern part of England. The Manchester-based, novelty label is quickly gaining a reputation for the semi-ficticious producers that it publishes, and the ultra-limited editions of albums that reflect a desire to document sonic material of England’s North, meeting at a cross-sections of oblique influences that range from sound research libraries, VHS video culture, mainland European influences, tape manipulation and more.
Slant Azimuth is the third and newest project to be affiliated with the fledgling label, and has, as of yet, no published material. The collaborative project derives its name from a recording method developed to improve on early cassette format, and which allowed more recording to be placed on a given length of tape in JVC VHS and Sony Betamax technology. As with other Pre-Cert projects, expect explorations of the land of fiction, murky pasts, haunting soundscapes and barely familiar influences.
